Delivering organic cocoa mass and cocoa butter in liquid form offers multiple benefits for companies for whom sustainability is important. Compared with delivering in the traditional solid form – i.e. blocks or drops – transporting them as liquids is far more energy-efficient. The energy-intensive processes of forming the product into blocks and then melting it again are no longer required, no pallets or packaging materials are needed and degradation during transportation is significantly reduced. And as a further advantage, the energy source for the trucks is environmentally-friendly solar power.
Liquid deliveries of cocoa mass and cocoa butter now by electric truck
From the second quarter of 2025, PRONATEC will be working closely with Transfood AG to deliver most of its liquid cocoa mass and cocoa butter within Switzerland by solar-powered electric truck. The Hugelshofer Group, of which Transfood AG is a part, is based in Frauenfeld in eastern Switzerland and operates one of Switzerland’s biggest rapid-charging stations for electric HGVs. This won the company the coveted Swiss Logistics Award in 2024.

“Hugelshofer’s innovative charging infrastructure is unique in Switzerland. We are delighted that, thanks to our long-standing partnership with this innovative family-owned company, we are able to offer our customers this forward-looking method of delivery.”
Benjamin Greuter, PRONATEC Logistics

Sustainable logistics are part of the strategy
By switching to solar-powered HGVs and encouraging liquid deliveries, PRONATEC is taking another step towards a more sustainable supply chain. With our combination of innovative transport solutions, eco-friendly energy sources and sustainable products, we are cutting our CO₂ emissions. In this way PRONATEC is actively striving to reduce its environmental impact.

“We are determined to reduce our CO2 footprint even more and we’re constantly evaluating more sustainable transport options. Our objective is to meet all our customers’ needs in the most efficient way possible.”

Solar-powered EVs for use in Europe, too
By the end of 2025, the electric trucks from Transfood AG should also be in use for deliveries outside Switzerland if customers so wish. We are currently planning how this would work. If you are interested in this, please contact the PRONATEC team .
